Katherine was appointed Headteacher in July 2019 having worked with Heathside in a consultancy role for the previous six months. Katherine has held multiple Executive Director positions spanning education, training and children’s services. She brings a wealth of professional experience in education, with particular expertise in supporting children to transition into robust, resilient, ambitious young adults. Kate is a founding member of the Moving Education Academy Trust, the Founder of Spark London and is Education Director at Aspire. She also serves as a Trustee of City Gateway and as a Church Warden of All Hallows Twickenham.
Deputy Head Lower School
Jonathan joined Heathside from fellow Dukes Education school, Eaton Square School, Kensington where he was most recently Deputy Head. He began his career as a teaching assistant at The British School of Beijing and taught in Beijing in both Key Stage 1 and 2. He also spent a year in Myanmar as one of the founding teachers at the British School Yangon. Jonathan holds a 1stclass degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Central Lancashire and a PGCE. He is also an experienced SENCO. Jonathan was recognised by Dukes Education with the Innovative Educational Practice award in recognition of his new initiatives, strategic thinking and whole school approach.
Deputy Head Middle School
Amanda joined Heathside as Head of Assessment in 2016. Already an experienced class teacher, she was appointed Deputy of the Middle School in 2017. Amanda holds a 1st class degree in Psychology BSc, an MPhil in Psychology (specialising in Educational Psychology) and a Primary PGCE, all from the University of Manchester. She has taught for many years across Key Stage 2 in Manchester, London and at a British International School in France Amanda has wide ranging experience as Head of different subjects including Maths, ICT, Design and Technology and Assessment.
Deputy Head Upper School and Head of Boarding
Nick was appointed Deputy of the Upper School and Head of Boarding in September 2018. Nick has a wealth of experience in both setting up and running boarding facilities as a house master and head of boarding. He is also an experienced teacher of Maths, Physics, Chemistry and ICT at GCSE and A Level.
Assistant Head, Pastoral and Creative Learning
Helen joined Heathside in 1996 to teach History, Geography and English in the Middle School with a strong focus on 11+ teaching. Helen was Curriculum Manager for the Lower and Middle school before moving to the High School as Head of Humanities and was recently appointed Assistant Head, with focus on pastoral care and creative learning, and Designated Safeguarding Lead of High School. Helen holds a BA in Humanities from Birkbeck College London, a BA in English from the Open University, a PGCE from the Institute of Education London and Postgraduate qualifications in Education from the Open University. Before teaching Helen’s career was in Publishing and at the British Film Institute in the Regional Film Department.
Assistant Head, Data and Assessment
Katy joins Heathside in September from Kensington Aldridge Academy where she was Assistant Principal, Tracking and Interventions, after joining the school at its inception. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Biology from the University of Nottingham and joined the fast track ‘Teach First programme’ on graduating. She also holds an MA in Education Management. An experienced Key Stage 3 teacher and STEM specialist, Katy has taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as Biology and Environmental Science to A level pupils. Previously, Katy worked in another start up academy, Ark Academy in Wembley, where she jointly set up the science department. Katy is also an experienced Gifted and Talented Coordinator, organising activities and interventions for high achieving students across a range of subjects.
Director of Studies
Andrew joined Heathside in 2019 from Arnold House prep school in Hampstead. He has over 20 years’ teaching experience in senior and prep schools in both the state and private sector. He has taught mathematics at Common Entrance, GCSE, A Level and Further A Level and computing to Key Stage 2, 3 and 4. Andrew has designed, installed, and administered ICT suites in schools and has been instrumental in introducing a new system for assessing pupils’ levels of achievement and progress through the 11+ and 13+ system in a previous school. Andrew holds a BSc in Mathematics and Business Administration.
Aatif founded Dukes Education in 2015 and leads our London day schools. He is also Chairman of Cavendish Education, a group of six schools for pupils with dyslexia and autism; and Deputy Chairman of Governors of St James Independent Schools (including Chairman of the Finance & Estates Committee and Chairman of St James Junior School). Aatif is also on the advisory board of EdEx UK and Woxsen School of Business.
Aatif has a first class degree in Mathematics and Economics and also had a British Army commission.

Dr Glenn Hawkins
Glenn Hawkins joins Dukes Education with a 28-year track record in Independent Education.
Following his PhD studies in Physical Chemistry, Glenn embarked on a career as a Physics and Mathematics teacher. More recently Glenn served as Chief Executive Officer at Astrum Education and prior to that he acted as Managing Director of the Cambridge Education Group Colleges, growing the Group’s sixth form CATS colleges from 500 to 1,300 students. Glenn’s first group executive role was as Sales and Marketing Director at the Alpha Plus Group, having joined as Principal of one of the Group’s colleges, Abbey Cambridge.
Glenn is passionate about the delivery of the highest quality educational services to domestic and international students. He is also a CrossFit coach who likes to run ultra-marathons, having run 69 miles from Carlisle Castle to Newcastle and from London to Cambridge to fundraise for various charities.
Director of Performance
Richard joined Dukes Education as the Director of Performance and works to develop and maintain a strong support network for the whole Dukes Education group.
In his role, Richard monitors performance in areas of wellbeing, leadership, and teaching and learning. He promotes various group-wide initiatives to ensure the needs of everyone across the group are met, so that Dukes Education can provide the best education possible.
Richard looks back on 17 years of working in education. He began teaching in a prep school in Sydney, Australia, before qualifying as a teacher and joining St James Senior Boys School. He taught Mathematics, Philosophy, and Sport, and his passion for the improvement of teaching and learning led him to be graded as an ‘excellent teacher’. He became involved in mentoring colleagues, promoting staff well-being, and shaping the pastoral welfare of students.
Richard has held senior leadership and management positions, and has been a Head of House, Head of Department, Head of Year, and Head of Lower School. In all his positions, he was always dedicated to monitoring academic progress, assessment, and student performance, which he combined with promoting self-awareness and mental health.
Richard also holds a Queen’s commission as a Captain and is the Commanding Officer of a school Combined Cadet Force.
Finance Director, Dukes Schools
Catherine is Finance Director for the Dukes schools. She is responsible for all aspects of finance and brings with her significant experience in the nursery education sector, having previously worked for the Just Learning Group for 12 years.
Prior to that, Catherine worked in motorsport, as Finance Manager and then Operations Director for the Brands Hatch Leisure Group. She qualified as an accountant with Kent County Council and holds a BSc in Management Science and Accountancy.
